FINISH YOUR BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR GET YOUR MASTERS DEGREE ABROAD!
When Mike Podevin, an Engineering student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Central California, decided to continue his education with his PhD -- he looked overseas. Denmark to be exact. "I chose Technical University of Denmark because they're a really great school, I think among the top 5 engineering schools in Europe. Since Denmark is so big on sustainability, their environmental engineering program is very good as well." Podevin says he will be working towards his PhD for the next three years, in the bioenergy group studying algae growth for biofuels. He is excited about the opportunity, especially since most people in academics view each other as equals. "I had heard this and when I arrived that's immediately how I felt after having beers with post-docs and supervisors before my second day of work."
Universities from overseas admit all kinds of U.S. students. Community college students can transfer and finish their final two years abroad and get their Bachelor's Degree. Students earning their Bachelor's Degree in the U.S. can get a Masters and/or PhD abroad. And even high school students can go to college overseas instead of the U.S.
