Working abroad can be one of the greatest experiences in your life, depending on your motivations. It is a unique opportunity to escape the daily grind at home as well as experience another country as a local, rather than as an outside observer. There are essentially two philosophies to employment abroad: establishing a career overseas, and working as a means to travel. Both have the wonderful advantage of exploring a new culture as an insider, though the lifestyles afforded each are very different. It's much easier to find work as a bartender, au pair, or mountain guide than it is to establish yourself as a financial analyst abroad. Luckily, if there are two philosophies towards finding a job, at least there are dozens of jobs, and hundreds of countries to choose from.
